Mr. Schwartz joined the John Stewart Company in 2013 and serves as the President of Property Management and Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Schwartz brought more than 15 years of leadership experience in the non-profit and quasi-government sector when he joined the company and has a strong record leading organizations serving low-income communities. He served as the Executive Director of the Monticello Area Community Action Agency, the Executive Director of the Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority and the President/CEO of Community Services of Arizona.
Based in San Francisco, Mr. Schwartz leads the Operations Team, a diverse group responsible for Property Management Accounting, Corporate Accounting, IS/IT, Human Resources, Payroll and Training. Aside from daily operational duties, the Ops Team has led the implementation of significant efficiency projects including on-line invoice processing and third-party payment processing, a cloud-based HRIS system and a consolidation of property management accounting.
Mr. Schwartz has served on numerous community boards and committees over the years including the Partnership for Children, Charlottesville Area Dental Access, Jefferson School Task Force and the Charlottesville/Albemarle Commission on Children and Families.
Mr. Schwartz received a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology (1989) and a Master of Arts (1991) from the University of Connecticut.
