We are pleased to announce that Carlos Ortiz will be joining the John Stewart Company (JSCo) on October 21, 2019 as Vice President of our Southern California regional office.  Carlos comes to us from a major SoCal developer/owner/manager of multifamily housing that has recently decided to fully transition to market-rate housing.  Most recently, Carlos was serving as Senior Vice President for that firm and was responsible for the oversight of over 12,000 affordable housing units at multiple multifamily housing complexes throughout the United States.

With a lifetime of experience in managing multifamily housing (his parents were the “supers” of a rent-controlled community in New York City, where Carlos helped with landscaping, janitorial work and unit turns), Carlos has worked for both nonprofit and private property management firms across the west coast.  He is skilled in multiple property management software systems, leasing, property operations, eligibility verification, and both HUD and low-income housing tax credit programs.

Carlos will oversee all of JSCo’s Southern California property management activities and report to Senior Vice President Steve McElroy (whom I would like to personally thank for his diligent work in Southern California as we searched for and now transition to Carlos’ leadership).  Carlos will be ably assisted by JSCo’s great Southern California team, including Assistant Vice President Donna Lambe, who has done a marvelous job in the transitional phase between Vice Presidents (and is now happy to “hand the reins” over to Carlos).

We are very excited about Carlos joining us and have complete confidence that he will add great value to our operations and do many great things for JSCo, its clients and our residents!
